The house is surrounded by fine large grounds, offering the onlooker a magnificent view of the valley, the river Ardèche, and the surrounding mountains. Due to mountain summits up to 1548 m high, this area is bursting with walking and cycling opportunities for the more experienced hikers and cyclists. Mayres is set directly west of the village of Thueyts. Thueyts is situated in the valley of the Ardèche, in between Aubenas and Le Puy en Velay. Bathing possibilities are at the Ardèche, approximately 1 km from the house, and at Pont du Diable near the village of Thueyts. This region offers many tourist attractions such as the fine towns of Aubenas, Montélimar, Privas, and Le Puy en Velay; charming villages such as Antraigues-sur-Volane, Vals les Bains, Pradelles, Largentière, and Vogüé; the Gorges de l'Ardèche; the Gerbier de Jonc, which features the source of the river the Loire; the beautiful volcanic lake Lac d'Issarles; the supreme Lac de Naussac at Langogne.
